November 11, 2015 - Nelson was proud to attend the 7th Annual Joyce Preschool Barristers' Breakfast, an important fundraiser for Joyce Preschool, an outstanding bilingual Spanish immersion preschool in Minneapolis.  Nelson has been involved with this event since its inception because he believes in the importance of high-quality early childhood education to give all children, but especially children of diverse backgrounds, the best opportunity to graduate from high school, attend college and become professionals.

October 5, 2015 - Nelson spoke at the "Immigration Update" CLE offered by Clarion Legal at Thomson Reuters in Eagan, Minnesot  Nelson gave a presentation on "Legislative and Executive Action on Immigration, and the Judicial Response."  Afterwards, Nelson served on a panel with attorneys Patricia Perez-Jenkins and Jorge Saavedra F. which answered immigration-related questions for the attendees.  Thank you to Clarion Legal, Thomson Reuters and the Latino Cultural Group at Thomson Reuters for providing this opportunity!

August 25, 2015 - Nelson co-presents on How to Handle Your Initial Appearance(s) in Immigration Court at the all-day seminar and launch of Minnesota CLE's Immigration Practice Deskbook, a comprehensive guide to immigration practice in Minnesota.  Nelson is proud to serve as the editor of the Immigration Practice Deskbook and is thankful to the many talented attorneys who volunteered with him and collaborated in making the Deskbook a reality and valuable resource for Minnesota's immigration law practitioners.

June 11, 2015 - Nelson was presented with a plaque by Minnesota CLE in recognition of his six years of service on the Minnesota CLE Board of Directors.  Nelson served on Minnesota CLE's Board of Directors from 2009-2015.

Late March 2015 - After 9 years practicing together with attorney Lisa Lodin Peralta, Nelson becomes a solo practitioner and Peralta Law Firm opens it doors.

December 2014 - Nelson joined the Board of Directors of Collaborative Community Law Initiative ("CCLI"), a unique and innovative non-profit organization which will reduce the justice gap by providing a legal incubator for new lawyers who will provide low bono legal services to individuals facing barriers in obtaining legal representation.  For more information about CCLI please visit www.blcommunitylaw.org

February 27, 2009 - Peralta & Peralta, Ltd. was a proud sponsor of Vino. Arte. Comunidad., a fundraiser for Joyce Preschool.

November 20, 2008 - Nelson was named a recipient of the "25 On The Rise" Award presented by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Minnesota.

October 15, 2008 - Nelson Peralta was chosen by the state agency Chicano Latino Affairs Council for recognition at its 30th Anniversary dinner Minnesotanos: A Cornerstone of Minnesota's Future. The event featured a video production highlighting Nelson and the Peralta & Peralta law firm among 25 individuals and agencies that have made significant contributions to the Latino community in Minnesota.

October 15, 2008 - The Peralta & Peralta law firm filed applications to the specially designated state fund on behalf of seven survivors of the I-35W bridge collapse that occurred on August 11, 2007. Peralta & Peralta participated in a consortium of law firms that represented these victims for free, without charging any fees or expenses. Four of the victims represented pro bono by P&P were Latino children.

October 6, 2008 - Nelson Peralta was named by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Minnesota (HCCM) as one of its "25 on the Rise." Through its 25 on the Rise program, HCCM recognizes members of the Hispanic community under the age of 40 who are leading and succeeding. He will be recognized at an award reception on November 20.

August 28, 2008 – Lisa Lodin Peralta presented a continuing legal education seminar to attorneys of the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office on the topic of “Preserving & Making an Adequate Record for Appeal.”

August 21, 2008 - Lisa Lodin Peralta and Nelson Peralta were honored to attend a breakfast for El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad, and to support this organization financially. The mission of El Fondo, part of the Spectrum Trust of the St. Paul Foundation, is to create a model of philanthropy within Minnesota's Latino community that fosters the giving of talent, time and money to efforts that build on the assets and strengths of the Latino community.

June, 2008 - Nelson Lodin Peralta joined the board of directors of Centro Legal.

April 27, 2008 - Peralta & Peralta sponsored a policy reception put on by Joyce Preschool to advance the issue of early childhood education for the Latino children in our community. Lisa Lodin Peralta serves on the board of directors of Joyce Preschool, a bilingual preschool, whose mission is to provide children from diverse ethnic, linguistic, and economic backgrounds with developmentally and culturally appropriate preparation for success in school and lifelong learning.
